Has music got real s**t, or am i just an out of touch grump?

Beach boys, Queen, John Lennon, Jimmy Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers (californiacation and before), just googled 'best bands EVER' to continue this list and got 'stereophonics, david grey, cold play' at the top, excuse my french but f**k off. What the hell happened to those amazing songs that gives you goose bumps when you hear them? Is there a serious lack of real talent in the music market these days or what? Thoughts and opinons please, btw if your in england and you like pre-2000 music, the radio station GOLD is keepin it alive!Has music got real s**t, or am i just an out of touch grump?
I love music its what you make it
You are so right.Has music got real s**t, or am i just an out of touch grump?

Some has have to diagree with you on David gray and Stereophonics though ... only most POP music has deteriorated ...

I am totally with you,I don't like many singers or groups that came after 1989 to be honest.I am in England but don't listen to the radio,I go to foxytunes.com and choose a genre and it plays lots of songs non-stop by different artists.
As the first answerer said, it's about money. The good people are put in minority as "obscure indies."

I find it funny that Coldplay is listed as one of the best--I don't mind it too much, but it's not my favorite.

I like a good balance and less "I hate new music." Though really, some of those I do hate...
I think there's a serious lack of talent that has the support of the radio. There's loads of great bands out there, just not on radio 1 or whatever... I'm finding local bands to be the best ones at the minute, the ones who do shows in tiny bars and pubs :)

Seriously, though, I don't get why anyone gives a damn about someone who thinks they're a musical legend because of the x-factor? They're not even that good a singer, the only thing they had going for them was their sob stories that got them on the show in the first place.

LOL, David Grey? Some people have warped minds to stick him on a list of best bands ever.
im sorry but people like you annoy the crap out of me........music is just a preferance of which song you like, my brothers just like you aswel and says that todays music is all sh*t and that the beatles and queen are "real music"....the most annoying thing is that he's convinced he's right and will shove it down anyones throat that challenges him....so whenever he hears me playing something like rihanna, he thinks its trash.......yet shes a multinational superstar thats on every channel.....if a song is catchy or if i like it its good, it dosnt have to be a certain standard..
its lack of drugs, i asked this the other week there. artists dont do enough drugs these days
"Music" nowadays? How can anybody call that music. It is utter crap. My dog can howl better.
Yep, i'm with you. I happen to be a teenager who lives with hearing utter crap on TV, unfortunately. However, I barely ever listen to anything that is from nowadays, I always find myself going back in time for music. I research a lot.

Back in the day music was not about 'my hoe' and 'i'm a real G' and crappy love songs that aren't actually meaningful, it was actually something people could have fun with.

I love all kinds of music, and yes, sometimes I do find something new that I like (rarely), but it seems talent is accepted in regards of the appearance of the person, which I find pathetic. Talent is talent, regardless of how the person looks.

I'm bored of the same old stuff which sounds exactly the same being played all of the time. Haven't they got the hint?

For now, i'll just stick to my jams acquired through research, or attempt to seek something moderate, lol. :P
