1997 17 Foot Carolina Skiff Top Speed With 30hp Yamaha 2 Stroke?

I have a 1997 17 Foot Carolina Skiff that is a flat bottom boat with low sides and just a center console no seats or anything. I was wondering what the top speed would be with the 1997 30hp Yamaha Outboard when about 350 pounds of people are on the boat. Cause I am contemplating buying a 60 horse power yamaha 2 stroke for it instead of the 30hp1997 17 Foot Carolina Skiff Top Speed With 30hp Yamaha 2 Stroke?
Some people will give you speeds of 30 mph, but it's really more like 25-27 mph. The 60 is actually a little to much, and a heavier motor, but you've just got to be more attentive when planing out and stopping.1997 17 Foot Carolina Skiff Top Speed With 30hp Yamaha 2 Stroke?
wasnt this exact same question asked and answered once before?

30 should be able to just get you up onplane, a little over 20 mph, maybe 25 tops, WITH THE RIGHT PROP.

60 would be capable of closer to 40 mph, maybe a bit more, WITH THE RIGHT PROP.

2 vs 4 stroke:

2 strokes need to burn oil along with the gas, this means much higher emissions. some places are beginning to ban the worse 2 strokes or ALL 2 strokes. as time passes, more and more places will have banned more and more 2 stroke engines.

with a 2 stroke, you may pay more for oil then you would for oil and filters on a 4 stroke in the same time period.

4 strokes are incredibly quiet, and with all the technology advances, they are getting very competive with 2 stroke engines.

and the new 4 strokes get GREAT gas consumption, allowing to spend more hours boating and less filling up.

at the price of a new outboard, i wouldnt retire the old one until its costing too much to repair and maintain. give it another decade.

especially if you never experimented with props. just one inch more or less pitch can make an amazing difference in performance. new prop is close to $100, MUCH cheaper then a new outboard.

but, if you plan on buying a new outboard, winter is the time to do so. but summer is a better time to try to sell your old one. boating is seasonal, prices are lowe rin winter and higher in summer.1997 17 Foot Carolina Skiff Top Speed With 30hp Yamaha 2 Stroke?
Unless your on a flat calm day going fast will pound U. Looking up the 17 there are some with 50hp there the same weight as 60hp if a 4 stroke it might be to heavy.
