Which 4Runner to buy?

So I'm in the market for a Toyota 4Runner because they're great trucks and I need the 4WD capability since I spend 80% of my time in the mountains come ski season.

Here are two trucks that I am looking at and wanted to know which you think is a better deal. Both trucks are 4WD.

1998 Toyota 4Runner Limited

-Original owner

-Black

-102K miles

-Clean title; only flaws are 2 inch dent on rear hatch and 2 inch rip on drivers seat

-Loaded with every option possible at that time

$7800

-2nd owner

-Grey

-73K miles

-Clean title; NO flaws at all

-Basic interior accessories (power windows, power seat, AC, etc. )

$10000

Was the factory maintenance done? What is the condition of the fluids? Did you check underneath for any scrapes from off-roading?

Get a CarFax on both vehicles.

If you buy the 1998, given the mileage, I would suggest you change all the fluids for peace of mind unless it's been done recently (radiator, oil, brake (check brake pads), transmissions, and the differential).

Ask if the timing belt was replaced. I believe the factory recommends that the timing belt be replaced at 60k.
